Are the steps included with The Barrel?
Yes. A set of custom-fit steps is included with every Barrel purchase. They are engineered for safe, stable entry and exit at full barrel height.
How much floor space does The Barrel need?
The Cyber Barrel requires a diameter of 34 inches. The Star Treatment 2.0 requires a diameter of 33.2 inches. Both fit comfortably in spaces where a traditional rectangular system would not. Allow at least 12 inches of clearance on all sides of the chiller for proper ventilation.
Does The Barrel chiller save money versus using bagged ice?
The savings are significant. A single session using bagged ice can cost $30 to $70, depending on volume. Over a year, that adds up to $4,000 to $9,000 or more. The included 1.0 HP ChillX chiller cools to 37°F on its own, with ice-making capability built in. It eliminates the recurring cost of bagged ice entirely.
Does The Barrel also function as a hot tub?
Yes. The chiller included with every Barrel system also heats water up to 107°F, making it a year-round tool for both cold immersion and warm water recovery or contrast therapy.
What are the electrical requirements for The Barrel?
The system plugs into a standard 120V dedicated outlet (15 Amps). No special wiring is required. A GFCI (ground-fault circuit interrupter) is included and should be used for electrical safety. Use a dedicated circuit breaker for the product.
Do I need special plumbing or a water line?
No. The Cyber Plunge is a fully self-contained system. Fill it with a standard garden hose and the built-in filtration and sanitation systems handle the rest. No plumbing connection is needed.
How difficult is the setup process?
Setup takes approximately 15 minutes. Place the tub on a level surface, connect the hoses between the tub and chiller, fill with water using a garden hose, purge the air from the system, and plug in. Guided installation videos are included with every purchase.
Can I install The Barrel indoors or outdoors?
Both. The 316 marine-grade stainless steel construction and insulated design are rated for indoor or outdoor placement. If installed outdoors, position the system in a shaded area for optimal chiller performance and longevity. Ensure the installation site is level, water-resistant, and has access to drainage. Do not install in a fully enclosed space or a basement without drainage access.
How is the water kept clean in The Barrel?
Every Barrel system uses a two-stage purification process. A 20-micron filter captures debris and particulates while an ozone generator sanitizes the water without chlorine. The system circulates and cleans continuously when the chiller is running. A recommended Sanitation Kit is recommended for a complete maintenance protocol.
How often do I need to change the water and the filter?
Replace the 20-micron filter every 3 to 4 weeks, depending on usage and water quality. Rinse the pre-filter mesh on the chiller inlet regularly. If you are following a sanitation protocol with the recommended Sanitation Kit, change the water once a month. Without sanitizers, change the water at least every two weeks, or sooner if it becomes cloudy or develops an odor. Clean the interior of the tub once a month using mild soap, warm water, and a sponge. Do not use bleach.
Can I control the temperature from my phone?
Yes. The Cyber Plunge includes full smartphone connectivity via integrated WiFi. The app allows you to set and adjust temperature remotely, activate ICE mode, manage ozone settings, and monitor system performance from anywhere. This feature is available across all residential Polar Monkeys systems.
How much does The Barrel weigh when filled?
Both the Cyber Barrel and the Star Treatment 2.0 weigh 156 lbs empty and approximately 1,240 lbs when filled with 130 gallons of water. The included steps add additional weight. Ensure your installation surface can safely support the combined weight of the filled barrel, steps, and user.
What is the warranty on The Barrel?
Every Barrel system is protected by a comprehensive 2-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Extended coverage is available for purchase: a 3-year or 5-year Chill+ Extended Warranty, which covers failures from normal wear and defects after the manufacturer's warranty expires. Extended warranty must be purchased within 90 days of your cold plunge purchase date.
